As part of a special heritage project entitled "Heritage on the Water" (in Hebrew "Moreshet on the Water") in which the Ministry of Heritage, the Israel Antiquities Authority, and Beit Yigal Alon are partners, various activities for families will be held at Yigal Alon House including guided tours of the museum, a special "Sanhedrin Trail" exhibition, family photo stands with actors playing Yigal Alon and Rabbi Yehuda Hanasi, and various workshops, free of charge, including: making pottery ship models inspired by ancient models, illustration and drawing following the illustrator Yiftach Alon and creating blessings on the pebbles.
WHEN: August 16-17 and August 23-24 – between 9:30-16:00. Guided tours(11:00, 13:00), "Sanhedrin Trail" exhibition (10:00, 12:00), workshops (10:00-14:00) and other activities (10:00-13:00).
Also during the heritage days, Galilean artists will lead a variety of activities for different age groups, including a color painting workshop facing the Sea of Galilee landscape led by artist Hamutal Leshem, a photography workshop on mobile phones in the museum space led by photographer Dana Meidan and wicker basket weaving led by basketry artist David Grushko.
It may interest you to know that the Yigal Alon House, regularly displays the oldest boat in the world (two thousand years old!) found on the Sea of Galilee; an exhibition on Yigal Alon's leadership alongside other displays on stations in his life; the "Sanhedrin Trail" exhibition – with over 150 special items found in archaeological excavations throughout the Galilee; the "Kinneret Exhibition" presenting the story of the Sea of Galilee from different perspectives throughout history; the "Samson mosaic" - the only original mosaic from the ancient synagogue in Hukok that audiences around the world can see; a children's reading corner with plenty of illustrations by Yiftach Alon in several children's books as well as many other surprises.
During these "Moreshet on Water" days, shuttles will be waiting for families leaving from the Kibbutz Ginosar entrance. Moreover, in addition to the many free activities, the families will also be offered at a special price new escape rooms that will open starting from mid-August.
